19th Annual Korean Senior’s Day Celebration
Thank you! 감사합니다!
With all the support from our sponsors, donors, volunteers, and staff, we were able to have another successful Senior's Day Celebration this year! Our 19th Korean American Senior's Day Celebration was held on May 18, 2019 at the Theodore Roosevelt High School with 530 seniors and 120 volunteers, performers, and staff. It was an amazing day filled with wonderful performances, gifts, lunches, and raffle prizes. Most importantly, we were able to show our honor and appreciation to our elderly for their contribution and hard work to the community. Thank you so much for being part of this meaningful event.
Hanul Family Alliance will continue our mission of bringing the community together to help our older adults in need or at risk.

It’s that time of year again!
One of the most anticipated cultural arts events of the year from Hanul Family Alliance is the Annual Korean Senior’s Day Celebration. For the past 18 years, Hanul has hosted over 700 Korean seniors, their families, and volunteers for this special day of celebration, recognition, and festivities. This year, it will be held on Saturday, May 18.
There’s been a change in location!
The 19th Korean Senior’s Day location will be at Theodore Roosevelt High School at 3436 W. Wilson Ave, Chicago, IL 60625.
Why hold Korean Senior’s Day?
Our seniors face linguistic, cultural, and economic barriers and often suffer from social isolation and depression in their everyday life away from their home country. We hold this event to show respect and recognition to our local seniors in the community. The highlight of Korean Senior’s Day are the art performances of local and international artists and our senior artists in our Cultural Art Programs. The event is primarily sponsored by donations and contributions from local Korean business owners.
I’m interested. How do I volunteer?
Because we’re hosting a large number of seniors on their special day, we need a lot of volunteers. This is a great opportunity to volunteer either by yourself or in groups of friends and family. For all volunteers, there will be mandatory training and orientation prior to the event. The schedule of the training is seen below. Please contact our volunteer coordinator Charlene Choi at firstname.lastname@example.org for any questions and inquiries.
Mandatory Pre-Event Volunteer Orientation Training Schedule (pick one date):
Saturday, May 11, 2 - 4 PM.
Hanul Suburban Office at 1166 S. Elmhurst Rd, Mt. Prospect, IL 60056
Friday, May 17, 4 - 6 PM
Theodore Roosevelt High School, 3436 W. Wilson Ave, Chicago, IL 60625
