What is
HYO?
Hyo (효), also known as filial piety, is a traditional Korean value that emphasizes respect, care, and responsibility toward one’s parents and elders.
It comes from Confucian teachings and highlights the importance of love, gratitude, and honoring those who raised and supported us. Hyo is not just about following rules but about building meaningful relationships across generations.
This value remains important in modern Korean life and continues to shape how families and communities care for one another.
